Going over
You can never pay more than upgrading would have cost
Two things on this page are metered: online bookings on the free plan, and Autopilot outreach on the paid ones. Both have a rate, and both have a ceiling — the price of moving up a plan. Once you reach it we stop charging. Staying put can cost you what upgrading would have, and never a penny more.
That is what lets us promise we'll never switch your booking page off mid-service. "We won't stop you" is only worth hearing if it can't end in a bill you didn't see coming.
| Plan | Metered | Included | After that | Never more than |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walk-In | Online bookings | 50 / month | 40p each | £69 — the price of Early Doors |
| Early Doors | Autopilot outreach | 100 messages / month | 7p each | £70 — the step up to Service |
| Service | Autopilot outreach | 400 messages / month | 7p each | £110 — the step up to Full House |
| Full House | Autopilot outreach | 800 messages / month | 6p each | £110 |
Covers are not on that list and never will be. Reminders and confirmations are included on every paid plan with no per-message charge, whatever your cover band does. Going past the band is a conversation about the right plan, not a fee.
We would rather publish that than write "unlimited". WhatsApp rates are set by Meta, not by us, and Meta changes them. If they move materially, you get a month's notice before anything on your bill does. You see the running total before anything sends.
Questions restaurateurs actually ask
Is there a free trial?
No — there's something better. Walk-In is free forever. A half-configured trial of a booking system teaches you nothing; a diary you actually run a month of service on tells you everything. There is no clock on it. We do take a card at signup — checked, never charged unless you go past the free allowance — so your booking page never has to stop working the month you get busy.
What counts towards the 50 free bookings?
Only bookings taken through Eightish — your booking page or embed. Phone bookings and walk-ins you enter yourself are unlimited and never counted, because charging you for using your own diary as a diary would be daft. It runs on a rolling 30 days, and we never switch the page off mid-service.
What happens if I go past 50 on the free plan?
Nothing, that night. We warn you at 40 so the number never arrives as a surprise, and the booking page keeps taking bookings. Past 50 they're 40p each — and the most you can be charged in a month is £69, which is what Early Doors costs. So the worst case for staying on the free plan is that you pay what you'd have paid for the plan above it.
If you're regularly at that ceiling, upgrade: it's the same money and you get Autopilot, deposits and the full Guest Graph with it. We'll tell you when you get there rather than waiting for you to notice.
Are there per-cover fees?
No. Nowhere, on any plan. Covers are never counted, never billed, and going past your band costs nothing. If you've come from OpenTable, this is the line worth re-reading.
To be straight about the one exception: online bookings past 50 on the free plan are 40p each, capped at £69. That's a per-booking charge on a plan that costs nothing, and it's the only one on this page. Every paid plan takes as many bookings as you like.
Do I have to talk to anyone to get started?
No. Every plan is self-serve: sign up, build your floor plan and service times, and take a booking the same day. There is no setup fee and no call to sit through. If you would like a hand — migrating a diary out of OpenTable, ResDiary, a spreadsheet or a book by the till, or just a second pair of eyes on your table combinations — ask and we will help. It is included, not sold.
What if I go over my covers band?
Nothing is charged and nothing is switched off. Covers aren't metered — we'll tell you and suggest the next band up, and that's the whole of it. The only lines that can ever add to your bill are the two in the table above, both of which have a published rate and a ceiling.
Cheaper systems exist. Why pay £69?
They do — ResOS has a genuinely usable free tier and simpleERB starts around £21. If you only need a diary, use one of them, sincerely. £69 buys the things a diary can't do: reminders that cut no-shows, an agent that fills quiet nights from your own regulars, and reports that prove whether it's working.
