Compare — argued fairly

Eightish vs SevenRooms

SevenRooms is a serious piece of enterprise software: deep guest profiling, marketing automation and a CRM that hotel groups run their whole guest strategy on. The honest question is not whether it is good. It is whether a 70-cover independent needs it, and can get a price for it.

Which one is right for your restaurant

When SevenRooms is the right choice

You run several sites, you have somebody whose job is guest marketing, and you want one CRM holding every profile across the estate. SevenRooms is built for exactly that and does it better than we do. If you are going to run segmented campaigns and tie reservations to spend data across venues, buy it and use it properly.

When Eightish is

You have one room, no marketing department, and two problems: people not turning up, and Tuesdays. Eightish costs a published £69 a month instead of a quote, goes live the same afternoon, and does the guest-marketing job as a single automated behaviour rather than a suite you have to learn. You will have less power and use more of it.

What to check before you switch

Most of the regret in this category comes from three things nobody asks about on the demo call. Whichever way you go between Eightish and SevenRooms, ask these before you sign anything.

Is SMS included or metered?

Text reminders are the single most effective thing any booking system does about no-shows, and they are frequently sold as a separate bundle. Ask what 500 reminders a month costs. On Eightish, confirmations and reminders are included on every paid plan up to your cover band.

Can you get your guest list out?

Ask specifically: can you export every guest record, with phone numbers and visit history, in one click, without asking permission — including on the day you leave? If the answer involves a support ticket, that is a lock-in you will feel later.

What is the contract term?

Annual lock-ins are still common. A monthly rolling term is worth real money, because the honest test of a booking system is whether you would still choose it in March. Eightish is monthly, and the free plan needs no card at all.

Moving your diary across

Switching sounds worse than it is, and the diary is the part people fear. We do that part for you: export your guest list and forward bookings from SevenRooms, and on a single 45-minute setup call we load them, build your floor plan to match the room, set your service times and hand you the booking page for your website. Your regulars are recognised from the first service rather than starting from an empty database, and your guests notice nothing except a faster booking page that does not ask them to create an account.

If you would rather look before you talk to anyone, the free plan needs no card and no call. How switching works has the detail, and our comparison of twelve UK booking systems covers the wider field if SevenRooms and Eightish are not the only two on your list.

Common questions

How much does SevenRooms cost in the UK?

SevenRooms does not publish list pricing; it is quoted per venue after a sales conversation and typically contracted annually. Independents comparing options should expect it to sit well above the £25–£140 monthly band that flat-fee white-label systems occupy. Eightish publishes every price on its pricing page with no call required.

Is there a cheaper alternative to SevenRooms?

Yes, several, but they are not the same product. If you want SevenRooms specifically for its multi-site guest CRM, nothing cheap replaces it. If you want reservations, a host stand, reminders and guest memory for one venue, Eightish, ResDiary, Resos and Tableo all cost a published monthly fee and cover that ground.

Can I move my guest data from SevenRooms to Eightish?

Yes. Export your guest list and booking history from SevenRooms and we load it on the setup call, so returning guests are recognised from your first service on Eightish rather than starting from an empty database.
